Claire Blakemore: A professional Wix website built for consultants and creative professionals

When you’re an independent consultant, strategist, speaker or professional services provider, your website needs to work as hard as you do. It needs to quickly explain what you do, demonstrate your experience, build trust and give potential clients a reason and means to get in touch. It also needs to feel professional and considered, without becoming overcomplicated or costing a fortune.

That was exactly what I wanted to achieve with Claire Blakemore’s new website. Claire is a creative strategy consultant, facilitator and storyteller with more than 12 years’ experience across the communications industry. She needed a professional online presence that brought her experience, services and previous work together in one clear and easy-to-navigate place. So we built her a website using one of my ready-to-go Wix website templates, designed specifically with professional service businesses in mind.

A website designed around your expertise

When I started working on Claire’s website, the aim wasn't to create something complicated.

It was to create something clear. Claire has a wealth of experience, but when you're an independent consultant, it's important that a potential client can land on your website and understand very quickly who you are, what you do and why they might want to work with you. The website has a deliberately simple, flat structure, making it easy for visitors to move through Claire's bio, services and experience without getting lost in a complicated navigation system.

It includes:

  • A clear homepage introducing Claire and her approach

  • An About section covering her experience and background

  • A Services section explaining how she works with clients

  • Space for case studies and previous projects

  • Testimonials to build trust and credibility

  • A gallery-style area for showcasing published work, projects, media or speaking engagements

  • A blog for sharing insights, news, articles and thought leadership

  • A straightforward contact section

  • A responsive design that works across desktop, tablet and mobile

The result is a website that feels professional and established, while still being personal to Claire.

Built in Wix, by a Wix Legend

Claire's website is built in Wix, which is something I'm particularly passionate about. I'm a Wix Legend, so I've spent years designing and building websites on the platform for small businesses, start-ups, consultants and professional service providers.

I use Wix because it gives my clients a really practical combination of professional design, flexibility and the ability to manage their own website once it's live. And because I know the platform inside out, I'm able to concentrate on what really matters: the user experience, the structure, the design and all those little details that make a website feel polished. I'm not a developer who happens to use Wix. I'm a designer who specialises in creating well-considered websites in Wix.

The detail behind a professional website

A professionally designed website is about much more than making your website pages look good. There is a lot of thinking that happens behind the scenes to make a website feel effortless to use.

For Claire's website, I considered the hierarchy of information, how visitors move through the site, what they need to understand at each stage and where they should be directed next. I worked through the typography, spacing, imagery, page layouts, navigation, calls to action, buttons, forms and content structure so that everything feels consistent and intentional.

I build every site with responsive design in mind from the start. A website isn't simply a desktop design that gets squeezed down onto a phone. Content needs to be restructured, typography needs to remain legible, navigation needs to work properly and buttons and interactive elements need to be easy to use on smaller screens. I check a site across different screen sizes to make sure the experience holds together regardless of device.

Then there is the less visible technical work that makes a website ready for the real world.

I set up the essential SEO foundations, including page titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, image optimisation, alt text, clean URLs and the organisation of content across the site. I make sure the site has a clear hierarchy so both people and search engines can understand what each page is about.

I also think about the website beyond traditional search. Search is changing, and people are increasingly discovering businesses through AI-powered tools and answer engines as well as Google. Clear content, logical structure, useful information and well-organised pages all contribute to making a website easier for these systems to understand and interpret.

There are also all the practical details involved in getting a site properly launched: checking links and forms, reviewing the mobile experience, connecting the domain, making sure the correct pages and navigation are in place, checking imagery and content, and carrying out those final quality-control checks before the website goes live.

This is the part of website design that can be difficult to see when everything has been done properly. The end result should feel simple. But getting to simple takes experience, planning and a lot of attention to detail.

And I don't just hand you the keys

One of the things I think is really important when building websites is making sure the client actually knows what to do with their new site. Launch is day one, day two happnes next and time doesn't stand still! So my website projects include more than the website itself.

Once the site is ready, as part of every website project I do, I give my clients a personalised PDF training guide and an onboarding session, either in person or over a video call.

We cover all the things you actually need to know to manage your website, whether that's making small content changes, adding blog posts, updating images or keeping your site fresh.

Why I've created Wix website templates

Claire's website is part of something I've been developing as part of The Karma Creative: a collection of professionally designed Wix website templates for businesses that don't necessarily need a completely bespoke website.

Because I've already designed and tested the structure, I can offer these websites at a much more accessible price. Claire Blakemores website template cost £550. For a modest investment, you get a professionally designed Wix website, adapted to your own business, brand and content without the cost and time involved in starting a completely bespoke website from a blank page. And importantly, it doesn't have to look like everyone else's website. The template gives us the structure. Your business and brand gives it the personality.

Who is this type of website for?

This particular template works brilliantly for professional service businesses where your expertise, experience and reputation are central to what you sell. That could be:

  • Consultants and independent strategists

  • Coaches and facilitators

  • Notaries

  • Celebrants

  • Keynote speakers

  • Authors and trainers

  • Freelancers and advisors

  • Creative professionals

  • Speakers and thought leaders

  • Sustainability and communications consultants

  • Other professional service-based businesses

I've also created other Wix templates for different types of businesses, including product-based businesses and consumer-facing services.

Two website homepages built using the Professional Wix Template designed and built by The Karma Creative
Professional Wix websites from £550 — fully customised to your business, professionally built and launched for you, with SEO, mobile optimisation, training and handover included.

The idea is simple: rather than every business needing to start from scratch, I've created a selection of professionally designed starting points that can be adapted to suit different businesses and industries. Talk to me about how one of these templates could work for your business.

A website that can grow with you

I particularly like the flexibility of this template because it isn't just a brochure website.

The blog can become a place to share your expertise, news, opinions, articles, updates, project work and case studies. The gallery can be used for published papers, books, media appearances, events, presentations, awards or examples of your work in action. The testimonials section can build trust with potential clients. And the services pages can grow and change as your business develops.

It's a simple structure, but there's plenty of room to make it your own.

One template. Different businesses.

Claire isn't the only example of how this structure can work. I've also used the same template approach for Will Kirkpatrick's consultancy website.

The two businesses are very different, but the underlying structure works for both.

And that's exactly what I want from a template. I don't want to give everyone the same website. I want to give you a really strong starting point, with the design, user experience and structure already thought through, and then make it work for your business.

Professional doesn't have to mean expensive

There are plenty of businesses and individuals that need a good website but don't need a £1,000, £3,000 or £5,000 bespoke website bill! Sometimes you simply need someone who understands design, UX and Wix to take your content and turn it into something professional.

That's where these templates come in. For an investment budget from £550, I can take one of my professionally designed Wix templates and customise it around your business. I'll work with your content, imagery and branding, build out the pages, make sure everything works beautifully on mobile, put the SEO foundations in place, connect your domain and get everything ready for launch.

You'll also get your training guide and an onboarding session, so you're not left wondering what to do once your new website goes live. It's a straightforward way to get a professional website without the cost, complexity or blank-page panic of starting from scratch.

Claire's new website

I'm really pleased with how Claire's website has come together. It gives her a professional home online that reflects the level of experience and professionalism she brings to her work, while giving her the flexibility to continue adding case studies, insights and achievements as her business portfolio grows.
